SUStars MDS Blog Hop

Well, I decided to go out side my comfort zone and try a blog hop featuring Stampin Up's My Digital Studio. You can download it here for a free 30 day trial here. You can also earn a FREE a Sale A Bration My Digital Studio CD with a $50 purchase.  I am glad you joined me from Robin Messenheimer. Weren't her ideas creative?  The members of SU Stars are sooooo talented!

OK, enough of the sales pitch. I have owned My Digital Studio since shortly after I became a demonstrator back in 2010.  This year I have vowed I am going to learn how to use it and use it some what regularly.  It is really easy to do but I never seem to use it.  I guess I am always afraid of not doing it right.  I don't know why, it's a computer screen that will delete anything I don't like.  It's not like I am wasting paper trying to come up with a design.

Here is a scrapbook page of my husband and myself - my mom took a photo of us while our family was waiting to see Santa Claus.
I didn't journal anything but December 2011.  I happen to know Santa very well, and had not seen him in about 15 years.  So this particular day, I straightened my hair, did my make up, etc all to see Santa. (Crazy I know, but there are some people you just can't see with the "I just got outta bed" look.)

I used the Christmas Jingle designer page.  Super simple, all I had to do was add the photo.  How much easier can scrapbooking get???

The next page was a little harder for me.  Not in the actual technical sense off adding items; but deciding which items I wanted to use.  I did know I wanted to use the FREE Sale-a-Bration disc.  It has tons of options for paper.  I tried every dsp on the disc before I finally settle on one of them.  Then to use a brad or a ribbon.  I mean really-how is a girl to decide???  At first I just had the matted photos of my daughter.  I liked it that way, but I figured it really needed some journaling of some sort. I really didn't know what to say and the paper is so pretty I just decide to add a punch with some shadow and add the word Dance since it is obviously from my daughters dance recital.  I think I am in trouble already, doesn't she look like a little diva? I know what you're thinking-"Ummm Stace, you blurred her face out LOL."  Trust me-I'm in trouble!

Hope on over to Tory Bray to check out what other cool projects you can make with My Digital Studio.  If you get lost during the hop, start at the home page of SU Stars, the list of all participants is available there.

Tricolored Medallion

So my last project (the bookmark) didn't have any stamping at all.  Well, this card made up for it.  It has so many colors and textures on it, it isn't funny.

This card was fun because the technique I used never allows any two cards to look exactly alike.  I took a piece of waxed paper and rubbed 3 colors of ink on it (in almost a triangle shape).  I used Not Quite Navy, Early Espresso and Cajun Craze. Then I used it like a giant stamp pad for my medallion background stamp.  I spritzed my stamp with water and then stamped it on very vanilla.  That's what gives it the aged edges.  I think it goes so well with the Well Worn DSP, don't you?

Like I said, no two come out the same. The more water spritzed on the stamp, the more the image bleeds into the paper.  If you click on either image, you will see more layers of color.  I stamped En Francais with Early Espresso. The card base was aged with Early Espresso and the Texture wheel.  Depending on the verse that is stamped on the inside, it could be used for any masculine card.

Come back this weekend to join me for SUStars for a My Digital Studio blog hop.  I am determined to use that  AWESOME program!

Don't Lose Your Place

Are you like me?  I go to bed to read and it doesn't take long before the book is resting on my chest or the floor.  Or if I manage to stay awake, my bookmark falls out.  Well, I have been wanting to make one of these bookmarks for a long time.  I finally got around to it with the new Blossom punch from the Occasions Mini catalog.

Ok, so I made several. And can you tell what series has been my favorite lately?  (I can't wait for the movie Hunger Games to come-I just hope they stay true to the story)  This is a fun project to make, even though there isn't a bit of stamping on it.  I used the large scallop circle punch for the base, the blossom punch for the main flower and the middle is a circle punch that was put through the big shot with the vintage wallpaper embossing folder.  I used my FREE buttons I got from the saleabration catalog. (Don't forget the saleabration catalog ends March 31, 2012)  The ribbon loops around to hold the pages tight. Now I won't lose my place.

Here is a close up of the pink flower.  It shows the center fairly well in this photo.  I think the pattern almost looks like stamen of a flower, don't you?  I know my mother is laughing hysterically since I have the dark brown thumb of the family and I can only grow weeds!  However, I have seen living flowers (just not in my yard LOL)

Sale A Bration Card

You want to get your FREE products while you can. Sale A Bration ends at the end of this month! Who wouldn't want their choice of free stamp sets, buttons, brads, paper, ribbon, embossing folders for their Big Shot or a CD of My Digital Studio items???

Here is a card I have made with one of the stamp sets Elementary Elegance and the stripes textured impressions embossing folder.  Both items are in the Saleabrations catalog.  I used the coordinating curly label punch to give the card some dimension.  A super cute card to give to a special friend just because you're thinking of them.

Don't forget to place your order this month.  I hate for anyone to be sad that they didn't get the free items they wanted.

Simply Scored Diagonal PlateIs Here

Check out this AWESOME new product from Stampin Up! It is finally available for customers to order! It fits directly on top of your Simply Scored Scoring Tool and it makes diagonal lines and it is big enough to place an entire sheet of 12"x12" cardstock!

I know, I know, you're thinking what can I do with it. You can use it to make envelopes, boxes, patterns on your card stock and anything else your imagination can come up with. I can't wait to have a chance to play with mine. Maybe we will get another snow day. Of course, I wouldn't be thrilled in June if that really happened and I was still in school.

Until next time
