MDS and My Mom's Photo

I'm still playing with My Digital Studio.  This is one of my favorite photos that my mother has taken (you can email her at annettehoodphotos@yahoo.com).  She takes awesome photos, especially of her garden.  She has some awesome humming bird photos too.

Anyhow, I am basically learning to not only scrapbook but digital scrapbook.  MDS makes it sooooo easy!  Even I can do it, and if you only knew how NOT computer literate I am....

I hope she likes it.

Nothing New To Photograph & Post

I have been super busy on my vacation.  I have stamped and created...and dreamed up more items I have to order from Stampin UP!  However, I have nothing I could photograph and post.

I made my aunt a dozen rose tea-lights using the ornament punch.  I made my projects for my March stamp club that I am holding in a couple weeks.  I was busy cutting and pre-punching some larger items.  I even sketched out plans for the April club.  One of my oldest friends is the hostess for April and she wants to make an altered project.  She doesn't really like making cards/scrapbook pages-she likes stamping on or making "things".   So I hope you return to see what we will be making.

We had our taxes done.  My husband bought a Kinect since our local gym has closed.  Everyone has had more fun playing that.  Even myself and I am not a computer game player at all.  I have never allowed our family to have a gaming system before.  I told my husband he could only get the exercise programs because I don't want our kids to be sitting in front of a computer more than they do all ready.  My kids and husband have had more fun running track etc with that thing!  And we got the Biggest Loser game.  I had to laugh when my husband was winded in just the warm up portion of it.  He thought it was a sissy, girly girl exercise game.  HAHAHA the joke was on him.

Hopefully soon I will have some creations I can photograph and post.

Until then,

Fun Flower Frame

As soon as I saw the Fun Flower die, I knew I had to have it! I have a lot of ideas for it-pins, ponytail holders, etc. And myabe I would get around to making a card with it.

Here is an absolutely beautiful card made with it. Not only is Rose Red on of my favorite colors, I REALLY like the Springtime Vintage Paper. I am stocking up on that!

Anyhow, I thought "wouldn't that card look pretty in a frame?" So here is my version of Becky's card made into a 3D gift. I think I will be giving this to my March stamp club hostess-she is a very good gardener and she is a very caring person.

The verse is from Sale-A-Bration 2010 set Whimsical Words. Even though it isn't a current set, the sentiment fits my hostess perfectly.

MDS Card

Here is my second project with MDS. Not 100% sure if I like it or not but I am still practicing which was my goal. I think I am starting to like My Digital Scrapbooking. I may have to invest in a few items other than what came with the original disc.

Actually, an order I placed should be coming in soon and I received the Sale-A-Bration MDS cd. I selected that thinking if I ever did get the hang of this, I may want it. Am I glad I had the foresight for that :)

My Very First Digital Scrapbook Page

Here is my first digital scrapbook page using My Digital Scrapbook (MDS). I have not understood this program at all; I am SOOOO not computer literate at times. I am determined to learn how to use this. I learned how to make this basic layout from Heather. I managed to add the scallop border punch by myself (I was so proud!) And then I added a button and some brads.

The photo is some of the Shasta Daisies in my garden. I have heard that a previous owner was a master gardener. If she saw her yard now she would probably roll over in her grave. I have replaced the gardens with daisies, lupin, and wild flowers. If it can't grow by itself-then chances are it isn't in my garden. My mother also told me, once I had planted all the flowers she gave me last summer, that my gardening was just starting. There would be weeding etc. My smart alac response was "Yes it is, they are wild flowers. They will just grow and spread and if they come outside the rock wall, they will get weed wacked." Now this summer I will have to see what actually survived the winter.

For All You Do

Sorry for the poor picture quality. I used the scanner instead of my camera. With the beautiful glitter brad, it raised part of the card off the scanner making it blurry.

Another simple card design for my new stampers. So Saffron, Certain Celery and Whisper White. Stampers had their choice of stamping the verse in Certain Celery or Basic Black. Several stampers chose the black for older relatives who have a hard time seeing. (What wonderful ladies I work with, they are so considerate.)

Next month, I am going to really break these new stampers in with two step stamping, water color pens, the works! And all their creations will come out lovely I am sure.

Love

Here is the scrapbook page we made for February's club. The "love" is cut out of Pretty in Pink card-stock that had been glued onto a bar coaster. The hearts were punched from the Red Glitter card-stock. The base is Real Red stamped with versa mark using I {Heart} Hearts. Pink Pirouette DSP was used under the wording and laced with the Scallop Trim border punch also in Pretty in Pink.

The red glitter paper is absolutely gorgeous by the way!! I can see it being used for Christmas items. It is so sparkly. I hope Stampin Up decides to continue this item and maybe putting it in a few other colors such as Tempting Turquoise. Wouldn't that be great!?!

Well until next time.

Doodles' Valentine Lollies

Here is what my darling little daughter-nicknamed Doodles- made. She did most of it herself. Not bad for a 5yr old. I cut the wrapper the correct size and scored it. She punched the hearts, taped them on and ran them threw the big shot. She made one for each of her class mates. It also kept her busy on another snow day we had. (At this rate, we are going to school until July....)

Until next time.

Gift Card Holder

Once again my big shot comes to the rescue! Earlier this week I used the petal die to make chocolate holders. From there, I took two "chocolate holders" and put them together to make gift card holders.

Once again I have added butterflies. I plan to make some with school colors and the cap & gown die that was made for sizzix little paper doll figures.

I used the crimper on the petal die piece that is on the inside. It makes it just a tad smaller so it slides easily into larger envelope. I also used retired brads on the butterflies and matching ribbon.

Here is the gift card holder when it is opened. Sorry there is a shameless plug for the company my husband works for. If anyone is visiting Maine, check it out.

Chocolate Holder

I must be very tired of snow since I am using all these bright colors, and I need to use up my retired designer series paper.

I have a spring time craft fair and after all the snow, I think everyone will be ready for butterflies and flowers. I was able to cut many of these chocolate holders from the petal die cut with my big shot in no time at all. (Gee I just love my big shot-don't you?) The hardest part of of this entire project was not eating the chocolate!

I will have a few more simple projects coming in the near future since I seem to be really busy but still need to get projects done. So you will want to keep checking.

Sale A Bration '11

Here is a card ( it's almost a case of a card I did this summer) using the stamp set Punch Bunch from the Sale A Bration catalog.

I also used the large flower punch, the leaves are the bird's wing from the bird punch, the butterfly embosslet and the circle punch.

I love tempting turquoise to begin with, but with after several snowstorms-and several feet of snow lately, I really wanted something cheerful and nothing that reminded me of gray skies or dirty snow. The of course there needed to be a pretty flower. And who loves pretty flowers more than butterflies?! I sure hope the people I am swapping with like this card as much as the butterfly does.

Spa Sock Cupcakes

Last year I saw someone make Spa Sock Cupcakes and they were really cute. And I thought how cute and I can make those! So I went to the store and bought some nice fuzzy socks.

I used my big shot to cut 2 cupcake holders from the Perfect Setting die for each cupcake. They are "jumbo" cupcakes, so I had to overlap two cupcake holders to hold the cupcake. Then I gave them texture with the crimper. The cherry is a red pompom from the local craft store. The socks are simply rolled until they have a cupcake shape.

I had a few more color choices when I started, but since it has been below zero and a wind chill factors even further below zero, and my craft room isn't heated....Well, a few pairs ended up on my feet!

Name Frame

Here is a name frame I forgot to post here. A former coworker of my husband saw some photos of things I had posted on Facebook. So he called to see if I had anything with wolves. Well I still have this retired set Wolf (I think that is what is was called).

He wanted something with wolves for his daughter, her name, and something that might imply her little brother wasn't welcome in her room. So I pulled out my handy dandy big shot. I cut her name out of coasters to add dimension.
I crumpled the brown paper to made it looked aged & distressed. I was worried that it would look like an old grocery bag-but Victoria loved it, so I guess it was fine.

I, being a total Twilight fan, thought is was ironic that I made a wolf sign for a little girl named Victoria. But I assume my humor is just to amuse myself....
