Black Ice Techique BSU112118

Hi Stampers!

I am finally caught up to this weeks challenge. Woot woot!

This week I the Black Ice Technique. If you’re in one of the many states that were hit with snow this past week, don’t worry. This has nothing to do with cold or snow.

This technique requires stamping on one of our foil papers. I chose silver.  You want to carefully drag the edge of your  Staz-On stamp pad down in a straight line on the foil paper.

Use your heat gun to dry the ink before going on to the next step.

Once the Staz-On ink is dry, drag your Versamark ink pad down in straight lines as well. Cover the inked foil with clear embossing powder. Heat set the embossing powder. The embossing will not be a smooth glaze with this technique.  The streaked embossing looks like ice.

Let’s see what Terri and Carol are creating this week with this technique. Don’t forget to share your ideas with us on Facebook.

Until next time,

Color Challenge BSU 111418

Hi Stampers!

Believe it or not, I’m getting caught up on my Broke Stampers Unite challenges. It’s amazing what a long weekend can do for your schedule.

We had to use Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Shaded Spruce and for a bonus Crushed Curry.

This may be my last attempt of convincing myself winter isn’t coming 😁.

I used the large daisy from Daisy Delight. A great thing about photopolymer is you can see through them to line up your stamping.  Each flower on my card is actually the daisy stamped twice with Memento black ink.  The center is stamped with Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler. I used an aqua painter to paint the petals with Crumb Cake and highlights of Crushed Curry. The outlines of the leaves are Shaded Spruce full strength. The inside is Shaded Spruce stamped off once.  I had a retired embellishment to use up.

Join Terri, Carol and me for our regularly scheduled Broke Stampers Unite challenge.

Until then,

Thankful BSU110718

Hi Stampers!

As I said I’m trying to get caught up on my Broke Stampers Unite challenges. The theme for this challenge was Thankful/Thanksgiving.

We all know fall  means sweaters and Pumpkin Spice EVERYTHING!! This was my inspiration for this card.  I used Pumpkin Pie and Crumb Cake card stock. I used the knit embossing folder.

On the white coffee cup I stamped the small images from Lovely as a Tree to represent fall leaves.  Of course the verse says it all,  THANKS A LATTE.  I added some retired twine to add more of a sweater feeling.

I cut my latte out with the Coffe Cup framelits. I raised the cup with dimensionals.

I was very thankful to have my coffee while I stamped today.

Tomorrow I’ll catch you up with November’s color challenge.

Until then,

Happy Stampin’

Stampers Choice BSU103118

Hi Stampers!

I am getting caught up this week. Between two jobs and two classes,  I have fallen behind on my Broke Stampers Unite Challenges. I made my Halloween projects in time to mail to relatives that are in college.

During my recent move and unpacking, I Found it clear acetate boxes that I had put away for something special, who knows what that something special with was???

I had such fun creating these little Frankie monsters!  I went a little crazy.  So a few special friends ended up getting Halloween treats as well.

I am going to attempt some Santa or elf boxes for Christmas.

Come back tomorrow as I get caught up on Broke Stampers Unite challenges.

Sketch Challenge BSU102418

Hi Stampers!

Welcome back to another Broke Stampers Unite sketch challenge.

I actually had very little stamping for this card.  The designs are from Toil & Trouble Designer Series Paper!  It is SOOO STINKIN' CUTE!

I used Basic Gray as a card base. The circle was punched form Gorgeous Grape card stock with the 2 1/4" circle punch; stamped with images from the Spooky Sweet bundle.

I cut apart a sheet of the  DSP.  I used one piece for the background layer.  I cut a strip of spiders and a strip from the striped section.  I fussy cut the cauldron, cat and frog from the paper as well.  They are mounted with dimensionals.

Let's see what Carol and Terri created using this sketch.  Terri's blog is here.  Carol's is here.  Please join us on Facebook, we would love to see your creations.

Until next time,

Embossing with Dies BSU101718

Hi Stampers!

This week we are embossing with our Thinlit dies using the new Embossing Mats!  I adore anything that lets me use my Big Shot even more than I already do.

I wasn't sure what I was going to create originally.  You never know where a new technique will take you.

I grabbed my thinlits, embossing mats, and some green scrap card stock.

I used my Swirly Snowflakes dies.  I embossed them on a Mossy Meadow card stock. Next I cut the shape out with the outlining thinlit.

I really liked how this piece came out.  I wondered what it could be used for since it was a green snowflake design.  Then it dawned on me, it would go great with the Festive Farmhouse DSP- Designer Series Paper.

I can't wait to see what Carol and Terri created this week and which dies they used.  Carol's blog is here.  Terri's is here.  Join us on Facebook, we would love to see your creations.

Until next time,

Halloween/Fall Challenge BSU100318

Hi Stampers!

Can you believe it is October?  Where is the time going?  The first challenge for Broke Stampers Unite is to make a Halloween or Fall card.

I originally going to do a fall card, but I wanted to use my new bat punch from the Spooky Sweet bundle.

I used my Woodland embossing folder, with Night of Navy and Pacific Point ink placed directly on the folder.  I embossed it onto Balmy Blue card stock.  I, also, used my Aqua painter to fill in any spots that didn't quite get inked properly.

I punched several bats out of Basic Black card stock.  I placed the smallest  rhinestones on each one for eyes.  I think google eyes would be cute too, but I didn't want to run to the store.

Let's see what Carol and Terri created this week.  I'm sure their cards are super cute! Carol's blog is here. Terri's blog is here. Please share your creations with us on Facebook

Sketch Challenge Broke Stampers Unite 092618

Hi Stampers!

This week Terri created a sketch challenge for us.  I decided to use the new Toil and Trouble Designer Series
Paper.   The little black cats are just adorable.

I also used the 2 1/2" circle punch for the moon and the cat punch to make a large black cat.  I stamped the banner with a verse from Spooky Sweets stamp set.

Let's see what Terri and Carol have created this week. Terri's blog is here.  Carol's blog is here.  We would love if you joined us on Facebook.

Woodland Challenge Broke Stampers Unite Challenge 091918

Hi Stampers,
Oh my goodness, can you believe it's fall already??  I am so sad.  I miss summer already.

I guess this challenge is perfect for this time of year.  Broke Stampers Unite Challenge technique for this week is "Woodland Faux Technique" or you may know it as embossing folder technique.

To create this technique, stamp your design on the smooth side of the embossing folder.  I stamped on the woodland embossing folder with one of the girls from Beautiful You.

I colored using my aqua painter and stamp pads.  I then cut the design with the stitched oval framelit. This is layered onto a piece of card stock that I ran through the Tufted Dynamic Textures embossing folder.

Carol and Terri made some awesome cards this week with this technique.   You can check them out on their blogs.  Carol's blog is here, and Terri's blog here.  You can also join us on Facebook.

Holiday Catalog- Broke Stampers Unite Challenge BSU090518

Hi Stampers,

Guess what, the Holiday Catalog is released today.  Can you guess what our challenge for this week is?  That's right!  We are featuring products from the Holiday Catalog.  If you don't have yours, let me know and I will get one out to you.

I am absolutely in love with all the pretty papers in this catalog! They are just gorgeous!

The base of my card is Cherry Cobbler card stock.  I layered it with Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I cut an oval from Mossy Meadow card stock with my Big Shot.  And the best part is the reindeer from Dashing Deer bundle!  It is so pretty cut from the Joyous Noel 6"x6" Glimmer Paper Pack!

The Joyous Noel Paper pack comes with three colors.  I used Copper. There is also Merry Merlot and Tranquil Tide.

I wonder what Carol and Terri created this week with all their new Holiday goodies.  Don't forget to join our group on Facebook.  We would love to see what you create, so please share with us there.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Pie Anyone?? Broke Stampers Unite Challenge 082218

Hi Stampers!

Welcome to another Broke Stampers Unite Challenge.  This week is a sketch challenge from Carol.

I immediately knew what I wanted to make. A birthday card for my daughter's grandmother using the Basket Weave embossing folder.  When that folder came out, there was a rage of people making pies with them. Grammie always has cherry pie on her birthday instead of cake.

Since she always has cherry pie, I had to use some very retired Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I told you I am trying to use up all my DSP and not be a paper hoarder 😉.

I have already had people asking me how I made this card.  Believe it or not, it is framelits.

I started off with the layering framelits.  I used the scalloped edge framelit for the bottom pie crust from Crumb Cake cards stock.  The circle framelit was used to cut for slices of the pie filling.  I used Cherry Cobbler for cherry pie; but you could use different colors for different pies such as blueberry or peach pies.

The top pie crust was cut from Crumb Cake using the Stitched Circle Framlelit. Then embossed with the Basket Weave embossing folder.

I glued all the layers together using liquid glue. I used my bone folder to press my two pie crusts together.  Meaning I pushed the top layer down to the bottom layer. Somewhere in there I sponged the edges and the basket weave with a sponge dauber to give it a little more dimension.

I cut a piece of pie out with my paper snips.  This was a little difficult, so you may want to use stronger scissors for these
cuts. I just eyeballed my slice of pie.  You could measure out the center on the back of the pie with your pencil if you wanted to be more precise.  I wanted it to be more realistic- Grammie would just cut a slab of pie out for her birthday 😋.

I layered my DSP (Designer Series Paper) onto my base card.  I, also, layered my two banners on my card base.  One stamped with Happy Birthday. I twisted some gold thread behind my pie.  I used a dimensional to raise the pie slice just slightly.  I colored my pie filling on the top layer with a Cherry Cobbler marker to emphasize the lattice work on the pie crust.  Oh man, now I am getting hungry for real pie!

Let's check out what Terri and Carol created this week before we start eating pie. Don't forget to join us on Facebook to share your creations with us.

Thanks for stopping by today.

White Ink Watercolor Broke Stampers Unite Challenge 081518

Hi Stampers!

Welcome back for this weeks Broke Stampers Unite challenge.  This week we are painting with White craft Ink. Some of my favorite things: painting and stamping.

I decided to stamp on the table set from Mediterranean Moments onto Crumb Cake with Soft Suede ink. Then, I got to paint!  It may look difficult; but it isn't.  Simply put a drop or two of white craft ink on a plastic tray.  I used my aqua painter to add a few drops of water. I painted the linen table cloth, and a few other accents.

The background was stamped with Timeless Textures. Everything was sponged.  I added a few retired enamel dots.

Let's check out what Terri and Carol created this week. We would love to see what you have created. Join us on Facebook

Let' Be Friends- Broke Stampers Unite Challenge 080818

Hi Stampers!

Have you noticed the gorgeous new colors in the new catalog?  I love them, don't you?

This weeks challenge for Broke Stampers Unite, we used Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, Granny Apple Green and Pineapple Punch. I adore these bright colors.

I thought this challenge would be super easy because I thought of flowers immediately!  Ummm, one slight hiccup to that.  I didn't have a flower set that had multiple flowers.  Quick change, Eastern Medallion stamp set.  Being a photopolymer stamp set makes it easy to align the images.

Let's see what Carol and Terri have created this week. We would love to see what you create with these colors.  Join us on Facebook.

Thanks for stopping by to see my latest creations.

New Catalog Broke Stampers Unite Challenge 08/0118

Hello Stampers!
The girls and I from Broke Stampers Unite took part of the summer off.  We are starting back up this month.

This weeks theme is the new catalog.  I actually used sets that were from the Occasions catalog that were carried over.  I used many of the new colors though.  The color revamp is so nice and the new pads are extremely nice as well.
Did you notice my coffee cup?  I needed a little inspiration/motivation this week after not stamping for so long. The coffee in the mug may or may not have been my first cup of the day. 😋

I used Soft Suede, Balmy Blue, Coastal Cabana, and Shaded Spruce ink pads.  With Soft Suede, Shaded Spruce, Basic Black, and Coastal Cabana card stock. The woodland embossing folder was used on the Shaded Spruce layer.  Basic Black bakers twine as an accent.  The stamp sets I used were Waterfront and Eastern Medallions.

Lets see what Terri and Carol are up to this week.  That's pretty much everything that has to do with stamping this week.  If you'd like to hear what it took to get this blog post up; keep reading.  If not, that's ok too.

You wouldn't believe what has happened to me to get this blog post up several days late.  First I went to use my laptop.  A, S, D and the caps lock button didn't work.  Hmmmm I may need those letters for stampinstace.... Did I mention I have a week long computer training that we are supposed to bring our laptops??  Yeah, so there was no stress there at all.  NOT!!

My dear coworker got me into school on a weekend. Note to self get a door key not just a classroom key.*  I got into my classroom, grabbed my school laptop which is even older than my personal laptop. I brought that home, charged it and what happened.  THE SPINNING BEACHBALL OF DEATH!  Please don't tell me I just had to restart it, 'cuz umm no that didn't work either.

Panic set in.  I destroyed my daughters room looking for an old laptop that she used when she was very little.  It hasn't worked for awhile; but I thought maybe Windows needed to be reinstalled.  That only worked a little and kept shutting itself off.

I even went to Walmart to see if they had a cheap chromebook or something I could use for class.  Well, if I need a new laptop, I wanted one I really liked.  Not sure Walmart was for me.

My BFF said to just come get her laptop for my class, that she could use her school one if need.  Her wireless mouse only worked so-so.  I told her not to worry, I could just plug in my wireless mouse.

Light bulb (after an entire afternoon of total panic that I am not going to be prepared for my COMPUTER CLASS).  Gee my wireless mouse was purchased with a wireless keyboard.  REALLY??  REALLY???  Guess what?  I could hook my keyboard to my laptop!  I had a tempory fix in my house the entire time!!  Grrrr and a sigh of relief.

Unitl next time.  Happy Stamping!

Waterfront Hyacinth BSU0450218

Hi Stampers!

I have another Broke Stampers Unite Challenge.  Today we are celebrating Mother's Day/ Feminine.

Can you believe these flowers were made with the Waterfront stamp set???  Those flowers are made with the pine trees!  Absolutely CRAZY!

I so wish I could take credit for thinking out of the box.  I learned this technique from Kathie Zaban. My mom has huge flower gardens.  I think she will love this card.

The verse is from Apron of Love.  I added a few rhinestones for a little bling because all moms deserve a little bling.  😊

Let's see what Carol and Terri have created this week.

Color Challenge BSU041818

Hi Stampers!

This week is another color challenge for Broke Stampers Unite.

It was a challenge for me this week.  We had to use Blushing Bride, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, and Whisper White.  Usually, I think of flowers when they are colors I wouldn't put together because flowers come in all color combinations.  I believe it was Carol who said they were desert colors. Lightbulb moment.

I instantly thought I would do a sunset.  I could use the palm trees in the Waterfront set.  Being in the mountains, I see lots of pine trees so I was drawn to that set.  I really didn't know when I'd ever use the palm trees.

I have a question for you all.  Do you ever have an idea in your head and it doesn't work the way you want it to?  I had originally wanted to sponge blue water with a warm sunset. That didn't work they way I wanted so I decided to shrink my white card stock down. I only used stamps and not sponges.

I used the Swirly Scribbles thinlits for the waves on the front of the card for a layer of water.

Let's see what Carol and Terri created this week.  Carol's blog is here.  Terri's blog is here.  Join on Facebook.  We would love to have you share your creations with us.

Floral Challenge BSU040418

Hi Stampers!

The first Broke Stampers Unite challenge of April is a floral theme.

Flourishing Phrases is a great set. It has several flowers and wonderful verses and coordinating thinlits.

I always need thank you cards. That made this weeks card a no brainer.

Let's see what Terri and Carol created this week.  Terri's blog is here.  Carol's blog is here.  Join our group on Facebook because we would love to see what you are creating.

Note:
After seeing Terri's card, I'm a little sad that my card isn't very springy.  However, I haven't seen signs of spring yet.  It snowed the first week of April. It was warmer at the end of February than it is now.

Until next time,

BSU Sketch Challenge BSU032818

Hi Stampers,

I have a sketch challenge for you today.

I knew exactly what I wanted to create with the awesome Waterfront set!  I love this set. Living in the mountains, these stamps can make many local themes. The verse is from the You're Delightful hostess set.

The Woodland embossing folder works well with this set too.  I aged everything with some Crumb Cake ink.

Let's check out what Carol and Terri created for this challenge.  Carol's blog is here.  Terri's blog is here.  We would love to have you join us Facebook  to share your creations with us!

White Crayon Technique BSU032118

Hi Stampers!

Welcome back to another Broker Stampers Unite challenge. This weeks technique is to use an embossing folder with a white crayon.

Now you may be thinking that sounds difficult.  Nope!  Ok, if you count getting the wrapper off the crayon I can see why you'd think that.

Once you finish getting that darn paper off the crayon, place your white (or vanilla) card stock on the embossing folder.  You want the paper on top of the raised side of the embossing folder.  With the side of your crayon, rub over the card stock.  Go over it several times so you have a nice thick layer of crayon.

Select the colors to paint your background.  I used three: Dapper Denim,  Night of Navy and Island Indigo. I squeezed the ink pad so there was ink on the cover then used my aqua-painter to paint with.  Paint lightly so the paper doesn't pill.

My inspiration for this card was snow (unfortunately).  In Maine we are on our 3rd Nor' Easter storm in two weeks. There is another storm coming next week. Yesterday/today's storm has brought almost 2 feet of snow and it hasn't stopped yet.

Let's see what Carol and Terri have created this week.  Carols' blog is here.  Terri's blog is here.  Join us on Facebook here.

Until next time,

Color Challenge BSU031418

Hi Stampers!

Today my card is for another Broke Stampers Unite Challenge.  We have to
use Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron, Pear Pizzaz, and Whisper White.

February was very warm in Maine.  Very spring like temperatures.  The first week of March we had a massive snow storm.  I am ready for spring and these colors are very springy.
I used Thankful Thoughts for the verse.  I cut it out with the largest oval in the Stitched Framelits. I used the Flourish Thinlits to cut all the flowers.  I used a 1/4" punch for the center of the flowers with rhinestones for bling.

I used Gently Falling embossing folder for the texture on the card base. The flowers and verse are raised with dimensionals.

Let's see what Terri and Carol have come up with this week.  Terri's blog is here.  Carol's blog can be found here. Please join us Facebook and share your creations with us!

Spring Broke Stampers Unite Challenge BSU030918

Hi Stampers!
This months challenge for Broke Stampers Unite is Spring/Easter.

I am a little behind (only a day this week).  My daughter received a concussion on Monday.  We survived fall and winter sports without an injury this year; and she hits her head in gym class .

Today it is snowing like crazy.  It's predicted 16-18" by the time it ends tonight.  Needless to day I am ready for spring.

I went through my Designer Series Paper (DSP) and this paper from Delightful Daisy was right on top. Doesn't it just shout spring??? I added it to a Crushed Curry card base.  I stamped the verse from So Many Shells in Old Olive ink.  I love the verses from this set.  Stampin' Up!'s DSP makes some cards come together so quickly and easily!

I wonder what wonderful cards Carol and Terri came up with this week.  Carol's blog is here.  Terri's blog can be found here.  Please join us on Facebook here, we would love to see your creations as well.

Watercolor Wings Layout Challenge BSU022818

Hi Stampers!
Broke Stampers Unite has another wonderful layout challenge.
I decided to use my Bold Butterfly set since I am so so tired of winter.  I am ready for spring, birds, flowers and butterflies. I want lots of blue skies.
I was inspired by this color combination by a card I saw on Pinterest.  These colors say anything but cold winter temperatures.

Let's see what Carol and Terri have created this week.  Join us on Facebook, we would love to see what you've created.

Until next time,
